Guide
Which colleges are on the Jesuit roster
This page is the US roster of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities. It is a hand list, because IPEDS has a Roman Catholic label and no Jesuit label. Every college here is Catholic. Most Catholic colleges are not on this page.
The table is alphabetical. Georgetown, Boston College, and Fordham are members. Notre Dame is Roman Catholic and is not a member, so Notre Dame is not here. Xavier University in Cincinnati is the Jesuit Xavier. Xavier University of Louisiana is not.

The US AJCU members
The roster keeps the US member campuses and matches them to Scorecard records. Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia is the Saint Joseph's on the list. A different Saint Joseph college is not added because the name looks close.
Loyola Marymount, Loyola Chicago, Loyola Maryland, and Loyola New Orleans are separate members, and each has its own row. Sharing a name is not a reason to collapse them.
Catholic colleges that are not Jesuit
Diocesan colleges, Benedictine colleges, and other Catholic orders stay on the Catholic page and off this one. Notre Dame is the case people ask about. It reports Roman Catholic. It is not in the AJCU roster this page uses.
Xavier University of Louisiana reports Roman Catholic and is not the Cincinnati Jesuit university. The similar name is a trap. The roster uses the Cincinnati record only.
A short list you can read whole
The roster is short enough to read as a set of institutions rather than a filter result. Compare size and price directly. Several members are research universities. Others are smaller. The enrollment section names the largest undergraduate bodies.
Alphabetical order keeps the table from pretending that one member outranks another. Open a row for net price, debt, and the other lists that campus belongs to, including the Catholic page and, where it applies, a football conference.
Why a hand list is honest here
A text search for Jesuit would miss members whose Scorecard name does not include the word, and it would risk catching colleges that merely mention the word. A roster avoids both errors. The cost is that a new member waits for the roster to be updated.
International Jesuit universities are outside this US roster. The page does not quietly add them. If the association's US membership changes, the roster file is the place the change has to land.
Where the schools are
These schools sit in 18 states. The largest groups are California (3), New York (3), Massachusetts (2), Missouri (2), and Ohio (2). The rest of the roll is spread across the other states in the table.
Who runs them
Every school with a reported control is a private nonprofit college. Control is the Scorecard field. It is not a judgment about quality.
Predominant degree is the credential the campus awards most often. On this list it is a bachelor's degree at 27 schools. A campus can still award other credentials.
How large they are
The largest undergraduate enrollments on this list are Loyola University Chicago in Chicago, Illinois, with 11,737 undergraduates, Fordham University in Bronx, New York, with 10,512 undergraduates, Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, with 10,085 undergraduates, Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with 7,660 undergraduates, and Georgetown University in Washington, District of Columbia, with 7,569 undergraduates. Enrollment is the undergraduate figure. It is not a ranking, and it leaves out graduate students.
Admission
27 of 27 schools report an admission rate. The median of those rates is 77%. Schools with no reported rate stay out of the median. A missing rate is not an open door, and it is not a closed one.
The lowest reported admission rates on this list are Georgetown University in Washington, District of Columbia, at 13%, Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, at 16%, and College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, at 18%. A lower rate is harder entry. It is not a score for the school.
The highest reported admission rates on this list are Loyola University New Orleans in New Orleans, Louisiana, at 93%, Saint Peter's University in Jersey City, New Jersey, at 90%, and Saint Joseph's University - Philadelphia in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at 89%.
What they charge
Among 27 private colleges that report a sticker price, the median is $53,710.
Sticker price is not net price. Grants, waivers, and a service commitment can move the bill by a wide margin. Open a school for the net-price figures.
Earnings and graduation
Among 27 schools that report earnings, the median of those school-level medians is $74,652. The clock starts at entry, not at graduation. The highest reported medians on this list are Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California, at $109,183, Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, at $103,937, and Georgetown University in Washington, District of Columbia, at $103,494.
Among 27 schools that report a graduation rate, the median rate is 79%. A blank rate is left out. It is not treated as zero.
Athletics in this file
21 report NCAA Division I athletics, 1 plays FBS football, and 3 play FCS football. A blank athletics field means this file has no division for that campus. It does not prove the campus has no team.
Also on other lists
Some of these schools also meet the rule for another list on this site. The overlap is a second flag or a second classification. It is not a second ranking.
2 are also on R1 research universities. 6 are also on R2 research universities. 1 is also on liberal arts colleges. 3 are also on Hispanic-serving institutions.
How these figures work
Admission rate, enrollment, sticker price, earnings, and graduation rate all come from the College Scorecard. Earnings are the median 10 years after a student entered the school. Tuition for a public college is the in-state sticker price. Tuition for a private college is the published sticker price. None of these is net price after aid.
A blank field stays blank. This page does not turn a blank admission rate into an open door, a blank fee into a free application, or a blank earnings figure into zero. The table above is membership under the rule in this guide. Sort order is not a quality ranking.
