Yakima is a city in and the county seat of Yakima County, Washington, United States, and the state's 11th most populous city. The Yakama people were the first known inhabitants of the Yakima Valley. In 1805, the Lewis and Clark Expedition came to the area and encountered abundant wildlife and rich soil, prompting the settlement of homesteaders. Cultural activities and events take place throughout the year.
