NJCAA membership comes from the Equity in Athletics data. Enrollment and admission rates come from the College Scorecard.

Guide

What the NJCAA list measures

This page lists colleges whose athletics division is NJCAA. That is a national junior-college association, and the file records it as its own division. Membership is the division field. A campus is not included merely because it awards associate degrees.

The list is long, so the table is split into pages of 100. Page 1 is the canonical URL. Later pages repeat the guide and keep the same membership rule. The sort is by state.

The division, not the degree

Most rows report an associate degree or a certificate as the predominant credential. A few report a bachelor's degree. Those rows stay, because the test is NJCAA. A large community college with a blank athletics division stays off.

NCAA and NAIA colleges are on other pages. A school does not appear twice under two division labels. This field holds one value. Football, when it exists, is a separate column and is not required for this list.

Community colleges with other divisions

California community college athletics often appear as CCCAA in this file, not as NJCAA. Northwest schools can appear as NWAC. Those labels are real divisions here, and they do not have their own category pages. They are not NJCAA rows.

A college that offers transfer programs and does not report an athletics division is absent. Club sports do not fill the field. The open-admission page is a different cut, based on admission rate, and it overlaps this list only by coincidence.

How to use a long roster

Start with a state. Then compare enrollment and, where it is reported, admission rate. Many of these colleges admit broadly. A missing admission rate is a blank, not proof of an open door and not proof of a selective one.

Earnings ten years after entry and the graduation rate describe the students the Scorecard can follow. They are thin for some two-year colleges. Open the campus before you treat a blank as a low number. A blank is not a zero.

Why this is not the community college directory

The site already has a community college directory. That directory is the two-year institutions, with or without athletics. This page is the NJCAA division only. The two lists answer different questions, and both can be true of one campus.

Use the directory when you want every community college in a state. Use this page when you want the colleges tied to this athletics association in the federal athletics file.

Where the schools are

These schools sit in 41 states. The largest groups are Illinois (41), Texas (40), New York (30), Florida (24), and Michigan (24). The rest of the roll is spread across the other states in the table.

The full roll has 452 schools. The table shows 100 at a time. The page links under the table move through the rest. Page 1 is the canonical address.

Who runs them

By reported control, 438 are public and 14 are private nonprofit. A blank control stays out of that split.

Predominant degree is the credential the campus awards most often. On this list it is an associate degree at 296 schools, a certificate at 154 schools, and a bachelor's degree at 2 schools. A campus can still award other credentials.

How large they are

The largest undergraduate enrollments on this list are Miami Dade College in Miami, Florida, with 46,182 undergraduates, Dallas College in Dallas, Texas, with 43,869 undergraduates, College of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas, Nevada, with 27,252 undergraduates, Collin County Community College District in McKinney, Texas, with 26,449 undergraduates, and El Paso Community College in El Paso, Texas, with 24,214 undergraduates. Enrollment is the undergraduate figure. It is not a ranking, and it leaves out graduate students.

1 school is reported as online-only. The others are not marked that way in this file.

Admission

14 of 452 schools report an admission rate. The median of those rates is 75%. Schools with no reported rate stay out of the median. A missing rate is not an open door, and it is not a closed one.

The lowest reported admission rates on this list are Emory University-Oxford College in Oxford, Georgia, at 13%, Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia, at 46%, and New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico, at 53%. A lower rate is harder entry. It is not a score for the school.

The highest reported admission rates on this list are Marion Military Institute in Marion, Alabama, at 97%, Marian University-Ancilla in Plymouth, Indiana, at 92%, and Richard Bland College in South Prince George, Virginia, at 89%.

What they charge

Among 437 public colleges that report an in-state sticker price, the median is $4,590. 1 other public colleges on the list do not report one. Among 14 private colleges that report a sticker price, the median is $18,445.

Sticker price is not net price. Grants, waivers, and a service commitment can move the bill by a wide margin. Open a school for the net-price figures.

Earnings and graduation

Among 450 schools that report earnings, the median of those school-level medians is $39,125. The clock starts at entry, not at graduation. The highest reported medians on this list are Emory University-Oxford College in Oxford, Georgia, at $80,137, University of Connecticut-Avery Point in Groton, Connecticut, at $73,997, and Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, New York, at $62,696.

Among 451 schools that report a graduation rate, the median rate is 35%. A blank rate is left out. It is not treated as zero.

Also on other lists

Some of these schools also meet the rule for another list on this site. The overlap is a second flag or a second classification. It is not a second ranking.

9 are also on HBCU colleges. 109 are also on Hispanic-serving institutions.

How these figures work

Admission rate, enrollment, sticker price, earnings, and graduation rate all come from the College Scorecard. Earnings are the median 10 years after a student entered the school. Tuition for a public college is the in-state sticker price. Tuition for a private college is the published sticker price. None of these is net price after aid.

A blank field stays blank. This page does not turn a blank admission rate into an open door, a blank fee into a free application, or a blank earnings figure into zero. The table above is membership under the rule in this guide. Sort order is not a quality ranking.
