About Bloomfield, New Jersey

Bloomfield is a township in Essex County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey, and an inner-ring suburb of Newark. The initial patent for European settlement of the land that would become Bloomfield Township was granted to the English Puritan colonists of Newark, and the area assigned to Essex County in 1675, and Newark Township in 1693. Modest institutional aid: 16% of freshmen get a grant from the school, averaging $2,687. Most of what lowers the price here is federal or state money, not the school's own funds.

Blends need-based and merit aid — IPEDS doesn't split the two, so a high number can mean generous merit scholarships, deep need-based aid, or both. Figures cover 572 full-time first-year undergraduates, 2022–23. Source: IPEDS Student Financial Aid.
