About Clinton, Mississippi

Clinton is a city in Hinds County, Mississippi, United States. Founded in 1823, Clinton was originally known as Mt. Salus, which means "Mountain of health". It was named for the plantation home of Walter Leake, third governor of Mississippi, which was located in Clinton and built in 1812. At one point WorldCom (now Verizon) was headquartered in Clinton.
