About Shreveport, Louisiana
Shreveport is a city in the U.S. state of Louisiana. Shreveport was established to create a town at the meeting point of the Red River and the Texas Trail. The Red River was made navigable by Captain Henry Miller Shreve, who led the United States Army Corps of Engineers efforts to clear it. Shreveport was formerly a major player in United States oil business, and once hosted the Standard Oil of Louisiana offices, a branch of Standard Oil. The Louisiana branch was later absorbed by Standard Oil of New Jersey. (Wikipedia)
